Munich, 7. December 2024 14:00 to 0:00
Munich’s neighboring city of Augsburg is the destination of the RG Munich’s trip on the second Saturday of Advent. The program includes a tour in English of the famous Fuggerei, the oldest social settlement in the world. It was founded in 1521 by the richest man in the world at the time, Jakob Fugger, and still serves its purpose of offering Catholic residents in need (through no fault of their own) an extremely cheap place to stay – the annual rent (base rent) is 88 cents. We also visit the Christkindlesmarkt, one of Germany’s oldest Christmas markets, which is staged on the square in front of the famous Renaissance town hall, the Perlach Tower and the Augustus Fountain.
